The Carying Place began operations in May 1993 as part of the Christian Community in Action. We incorporated as a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization in 1998 with its own Board of Directors.  Our Endowment Fund was established in August of 2018 to carry this successful program into the future.

To date, we have worked with over 460 families with near 90% success; current program supports nine families living in apartments or town homes owned or leased by TCP.

We receive approximately 120 requests for homelessness-related services a month. Currently, we have near 150 families waiting on housing assistance.

The mission of the Carying Place is to  teach homeless, working families with children life skills for attaining independent living while providing short-term housing and support services to address their individual needs.

Over a 16-week period, these families are taught the skills required for self-sufficiency through mandatory Thursday evening meetings with their Support Partners.

The Children’s Program is designed to help prevent low self esteem, school related problems (social and educational), nutritional problems, child abuse and neglect.

An  program is underway for graduate families.
